In association with Greenfleet Independent Aviation is offsetting every charter through Greenfleet’s carbon offset program. The calculations are based on total average monthly fuel burn figures. Greenfleet is a registered environmental charity, encouraging organizations and individuals to avoid and reduce the greenhouse gases they produce and then offset any remaining emissions by planting bio-diverse native forests.
Greenfleet’s forest sinks do more than take carbon from the atmosphere. Greenfleet plants a wide variety of local native trees in permanent forests that help to reduce salinity and soil erosion and provide essential habitat for native wildlife.
Greenfleet was the first not-for-profit forestry offset organization to become an Approved Abatement Provider under the Federal Government’s Greenhouse Friendly™ initiative. This means the methodology behind our offset program has undergone independent scrutiny and meets appropriate standards.
On this basis all air charter flights booked through Independent Aviation are 100% carbon offset, at no additional cost. We believe that we are the only aviation organization in Australia offering embedded carbon offset, and indeed one of only a handful of such organizations worldwide with this policy.
